If you live in County Durham and are going to sixth form or college Durham County Council now give all sixth form or college students who have to travel more than two miles to study a travel assistance award towards the cost of their travel.
You will receive £75, £110 or £130 from Durham County Council each term, depending on how far you live from sixth form or college. Check out the table below to see how much you could be saving. Don't forget tickets give unlimited travel on all Go North East services (except for our Night Buses, which have an ‘N’ prefix) – including evenings and weekends!
If you choose not to top up you can use your travel assistance award to purchase £11 weekly tickets to the value you've been given by Durham County Council. However, this could leave you with a significant problem with travel for the remaining weeks of term and you'll miss out on the benefits of unlimited at weekends and holidays.
